BBF Supports Tornado Relief in Southeast Missouri

SE Missouri Foodbank

Following the tornadoes that struck Southeast Missouri in March 2025, Brother’s Brother Foundation provided a grant to Southeast Missouri (SEMO) Food Bank to support mobile pantry operations in affected counties, including Butler, Wayne, and Perry. The tornado outbreak caused significant damage across multiple communities, resulting in widespread power outages, school closures, and limited access to essential supplies.

SEMO Food Bank began distributing food and water immediately and scheduled additional mobile pantry distributions over the following 3–4 weeks to meet ongoing needs. Each mobile pantry provided groceries to approximately 200 families and included both perishable and shelf-stable items. Distributions also included personal care supplies such as diapers and toilet paper.

The food bank operates across 16 counties in Southeast Missouri, partnering with 140 nonprofit agencies. In disaster situations, SEMO Food Bank coordinates with Emergency Management, law enforcement, and other first responders to ensure targeted delivery of aid. Volunteers played a critical role in the tornado response, with each mobile pantry distribution requiring around 10 volunteers for setup and food delivery.

Grant funds from BBF helped cover the costs associated with the expanded food distributions and supported SEMO Food Bank’s continued relief efforts in the impacted areas.
