Staff from BBF Global Relief attended an assembly at West Liberty Elementary PreK-5 to distribute packets of school supplies to some 200 students.

The assembly celebrated BBF’s grant to The Education Partnership’s Adopt-A-School program, which provides packets of everyday educational necessities to schools with economically disadvantaged students. This was BBF’s third year participating in the program and supporting students at West Liberty Elementary.

BBF Global Relief gave a grant to The Education Partnership that supplied every student at West LIberty Elementary PreK-5 with their own bag of crayons, notebooks, pencils, glue and other essential educational materials.

The assembly began with a fun and engaging lesson led by Kiki Reis, the advancement director at The Education Partnership. She taught the students about the importance of teamwork and collaboration. To demonstrate this, Reis invited two students to the stage to participate in a hands-on activity. Using popsicle sticks and Play-Doh, the students worked together to build a sturdy bridge. Meanwhile, staff from BBF and The Education Partnership joined in on the activity but with a twist—they had to build their bridges individually without sharing resources. As expected, the bridges built by the students held up much better than those built by the staff, emphasizing the power of working together.

Reis concluded the assembly by telling students about the work BBF does and the impact of its partnership with The Education Partnership.

“Brother’s Brother Foundation is here today. They’re our teammates and your teammates too because they help find the right tools to bridge the gap between what you have and what you need to learn in school,” Reis said. “They want to make sure they’re building a great framework so you can learn whatever you want to do in this new [school] year.”
